If you are 5’4 or under, you are most likely too familiar with the unique fashion challenges that come with being petite. I am a 5’3 and trying on an endless selection of clothes that makes me feel like a kid playing dress up in the closet of a size 14 can really suck the fun out of shopping for clothes for myself.
For petite girls, lack of height can feel like a serious style barrier— and to be honest it can be a bit of a fashion hurdle.
If you are petite and would like to know how to look taller, with the clothes you’ve got in your wardrobe then stay glued to your phone screen! You might just learn a thing or two.
1. If you are going short, go short!
When you are petite, it’s just a fact that when it comes to dresses and skirts you either go super-long or super-short, what I mean is try to avoid calf length and knee lengths). Wearing a mini skirt shows more skin, thereby creating an illusion of longer legs. While ankle straps aren’t typically ideal for short ladies as they cut off your legs but they can work with super short outfits since more skin is being shown.
2. Try Flared Jeans
Flared jeans create an illusion of longer legs especially when the hem hits the top of your shoes; heels of course!
Keep the fit of the jeans super slim through the leg and make sure the waistband hits your natural waist and not any lower.
3. Overly big shoulder bags are a No-No!
I used to make the mistake of carrying oversized bags, I loved them, I still do.
4. Rock Outfits With Vertical Stripes.
5. Stick With Skinny Belts.
As a petite lady/ short girl, always opt for a skinny belt as it’ll define your natural waist in a flattering way. Wearing a super thick belt can cut you in half.
Wearing a V neckline gives the illusion of a longer, leaner torso.
7. Wear Pointy Flats
I hope you guys learned something from this post.
